OSLO (Reuters) - The sale of electric cars in Norway overtook those powered by petrol, diesel and hybrid engines last year, with German auto-maker Volkswagen replacing Tesla as the top battery-vehicle producer, new data showed on Tuesday.
So-called battery electric vehicles (BEV) made up 54.3% of all new cars sold in the Nordic country in 2020, a global record, up from 42.4% in 2019 and from a mere 1% of the overall market a decade ago, the Norwegian Road Federation (OFV) said.

For The First Time, Electric Eels Have Been Seen Hunting And Zapping Prey as a Group
Electric eels appear to not be the loners we thought they were.
In a small lake deep in the Amazon River basin in Brazil, scientists have for the first time recorded the fish not just living together, but actively working together to forage, and to bring down their prey.
There s even evidence that the strategy is working. Of the plentiful Volta s electric eels (
Electrophorus voltai, not a true eel but a type of knifefish) found living in the lake, many were over 1.2 metres (4 feet) in length and thriving.
The hunting pack of eels behavior stunned the scientists. This is an extraordinary discovery, de Santana said. Nothing like this has ever been documented in electric eels.
Their discovery reshapes the thoughts that eels are solitary creatures. According to de Santana, only nine fish species hunt in groups, compared with many more mammals who use this technique for hunting.

BMW has said it is optimistic about prospects ahead for the current year, with growth centred on electric models. It also outlined a strategy for investing in digital processes including digital aftersales upgrades that it said would be highly profitable .
BMW said it expects to double sales of fully electric vehicles in 2021. The introduction of the fully-electric MINI and BMW iX3 last year will be followed in 2021 by the start of production for the fully-electric BMW iX in Dingolfing and the BMW i4 in Munich.
The BMW Group has now increased the number of electrified vehicles (fully-electric and plug-in hybrid) in its line-up to 13 models, available in 74 markets around the globe.
